PURE EXPERIENCE - Eco Tour of Ria Formosa

In existence for over 11,000 years, the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve is one of the most beautiful areas of the Algarve. This natural paradise which stretches over 60 km is a protected wetland which is home to a wide range of ecosystems.  Among the species you can encounter here are various molluscs, crustaceans, fish and shellfish. It is also a stopping off point for migrating birds including some particularly rare species.  The area which used to be a salt works and even used for farming is now used as an oyster and mussel farm.  We’d like to invite you on an incredible trip through these fenlands, travelling on the waterways in a traditional boat. On this trip around the barrier islands which make up this exceptional lake system you’ll be able to see the many varied species which live in this Nature Reserve.

THIS EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

• Meeting point at the Faro Dock
• Includes bird watching boat trip accompanied by a nature guide. A telescope, binoculars and a bird identification guide will be provided. On this trip you will explore the main environments of the Ria Formosa in the Ludo area and pass streams and fresh and salt water lakes.
• The trip is in the Faro district.
