Vhils

Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto, known as Vhils, gained international recognition for his distinctive practice of carving portraits into walls and urban surfaces. By layering and subtracting materials, he reveals hidden histories within the city itself. His work reflects on identity, memory, and the marks left by society.

Joana Vasconcelos

Joana Vasconcelos, one of Portugal’s leading contemporary artists, is renowned for her large, often humorous installations that reimagine everyday objects. Combining craft traditions with bold contemporary expression, her works explore themes of identity, femininity, and collective culture. Her art brings spectacle and reflection in equal measure.

Alexander Calder

An American pioneer of modern sculpture, Alexander Calder transformed the art world with his invention of the mobile—delicate, balanced forms that move with air currents. Juan Genovés

Spanish painter Juan Genovés is celebrated for his striking depictions of crowds, rendered as collective bodies seen from above or at a distance. Antoni Tàpies

Elias Crespin

His work can be found in major institutions, including a permanent installation at the Louvre.

Xavier Mascaró

Spanish sculptor Xavier Mascaró creates monumental works in iron and bronze that materialise archaic forms with a contemporary sensibility. His ships, guardians, and fragmented figures evoke both myth and modernity, blending fragility and permanence. Mascaró’s sculptures invite contemplation on heritage, memory, and the human journey.

Manolo Valdés

The Spanish artist Manolo Valdés became a central figure in contemporary art by reinterpreting masterpieces from art history with a modern perspective. Elena Asins

Elena is a pioneer of digital art. The Spanish artist distinguished herself through her use of geometric structures and algorithmic processes to produce precise and minimalist works. Her practice includes drawing, sculpture, and installation, exploring themes of order, language, and mathematical thought.

Joan Miró

Miró, one of the great names of modern art, developed a poetic language marked by intense colours, dreamlike forms, and personal symbols. Tulio Pinto

Brazilian sculptor Tulio Pinto explores the relationships between matter, space, and balance through the use of contrasting materials, including glass, steel, and stone. Manuela Pimentel

Manuela Pimentel is a Portuguese artist working mainly in painting and drawing. Known for her tile-inspired drawings, which combine abstraction and gesturality, Manuela expressively explores colours, forms, and textures. Her work stands out for its chromatic intensity, creating compositions that evoke traditional Portuguese patterns in a contemporary way.

Francisco Narváez

Narváez was a Venezuelan sculptor and painter, noted for integrating Indigenous and Afro-Venezuelan elements into modern art. He worked primarily in public and monumental sculpture, using materials such as bronze, marble, and stone. Combining tradition and modernity, his works explore human and natural forms with sensitivity and a sense of balance.

Arman

French-American artist associated with the Nouveau Réalisme movement, Arman is known for “acumulaciones” and sculptures made from everyday objects. He explored the relationship between consumption, waste, and memory, transforming daily objects into artworks. His approach combines conceptual art, pop, and minimalism, questioning the function and value of objects in contemporary society.

Liu Bolin

Baltasar Lobo

Born in Spain, Baltasar Lobo was exiled to Paris after the Civil War. He is known for his smooth, refined forms celebrating the female figure and motherhood. His work, marked by the synthesis of tradition and modernity, is akin to the sculpture of Henry Moore and Brancusi, exploring harmony between volume, simplicity, and movement.

Jesús Soto

Venezuelan artist Jesús Soto is a central figure in kinetic and optical art. His work explores movement, vibration, and viewer interaction through geometric structures, suspended threads, and the creation of light effects. He designed sculptures and installations that invite our participation, transforming the perception of space and time.

Jorge Stever

Jorge Stever was a Venezuelan painter, known for the intense use of colour and the fusion of figuration and abstraction. Inspired by European influences, Latin American culture, and the interplay of nature, light, and tropical energy, he created vibrant compositions that evoke movement and vitality. His work reflects a poetic vision of the world, exploring emotion through painting.

Lynn Chadwick

British sculptor Lynn Chadwick emerged after the Second World War with angular and abstract figures in iron and bronze. His work explores the balance between human and animal forms, creating sculptures of strong presence and dynamism. He is considered one of the great figures of modern British sculpture.

Fernando Botero

Fernando Botero was a Colombian painter and sculptor known for his unmistakable style of voluminous, rounded figures, known as “Boterismo.” His work combines social critique, humour, and irony, exploring themes of Latin American and universal culture. He worked in both painting and monumental sculpture, becoming one of the most recognised contemporary artists.

Thomas Dillon

Self-taught American painter Thomas Dillon creates works that merge abstraction and figuration, where faces and figures seem to emerge from spontaneous gestures. He employs unconventional tools such as syringes and improvised brushes in a process rooted in intuition and the unconscious. His large-scale canvases explore the tension between chaos and order, emotion and contemplation.

Juan Garaizabal

Spanish artist and sculptor Juan Garaizabal is known for his public art installations and lighting designs. In the Urban Memories series, he reconstructs lost architectures with illuminated metal structures, creating a dialogue between memory and urban space. His work combines manual techniques and technology, exploring light, metal, and plastic elements in innovative ways.

Jean-Michel Basquiat

Basquiat, an American artist of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent, is renowned for his neo-expressionist style, which combines elements of graffiti, painting and text. Antonio Saura
